Laptop for Civil Engineering Major ?

<p>I was wondering which laptop is the best suited for a civil engineering major?</p>

<p>I really wanted a MacBook, but I heard that some programs needed for engineering classes won't run or aren't compatible for the Mac.
So, any other suggestions ? Or is the rumor about the programs not running on Macs false?</p>

<p>Depends. You wont be running CAD programs from a laptop, but some other ones programmed for windows possibly. Macs can run windows, but then theres the cost of buying a CD for windows to account for as well.</p>
