you're probably not gonna get your ideal course schedule for freshman fall.

those with priority and a higher class standing will fare a little better in future quarters, but most people get a schedule that theyre satisfied with.

so people with better grades get to choose classes earlier?

no not better grades.

class standing as in freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior. this is determined by the number of UNITS you have, not by which year you entered school. it takes 45 units to be in the next class. so a 1st year who takes 15 units and is transferring 30 AP/IB units will be classified as a "sophomore" for their next registration and will get to pick classes before the "freshmen" do.

priority is not by grades either. certain affiliations give you priority registration, such as being a regents scholar, alumni scholar, being in AAP, being in honors, etc.

How can I register for classes now?

if you're a freshman.... you can't.

wait, 10 people per counselor?! how many counselors are there and how many people attend orientation anyway>?

there's about 400 students per orientation i'd think (4000 freshmen divided by 10 sessions?). there's 45 counselors. you can read their bios here:

http://www.orientation.ucla.edu/oc.html

a counselor with a major that's similar to yours might be your actual counselor!

... and if any of you get stuart sia or winnie ko, tell them "kfc said hi," they'll know who that is :)

all the counselors seem.....err......gay

the chicks on the other hand are fine (some of them)

eh... well for sure one of them has to be gay cuz they'll probably bring that up on the 'diversity' session and it's more convincing to have a real example tell his (or her) experiences as a UCLA student

one of them is gay. i remember him from high school.

haha does this really matter?

if youre going to ucla, then yeah probably.

someone once told me that 10% of the ucla population is gay, but i dunno what's the accuracy of that statement.

ucla is a very LGBT-tolerant/friendly campus though
