I went to orientation 101 and let me ing tell you, bring your computer and an ethernet cord. Let me tell you why. There was only one *ing computer lab open to us for finding classes. The line took over an hour to get through at times, and I almost missed out on enrollment cause the computer lab decided to close at ***ing 9pm than the scheduled 11pm. bottom line...BRING YOUR LAPTOP!!!

Seriously. I wanted to shoot myself running around looking for an open computer. ._.;;;

another hint...i found a few computers in the computer repair room located across from covel commons. not sure when their open but i used them today at ~8 in the morning

do you need to bring an ethernet cord, or do they have wireless internet?

wireless is not available everywhere, so definitely bring your ethernet cord. Also, if you plan on bringing your laptop, bring a lock.

I've been reading the boards and decided not to bring a laptop. That was a mistake. You should definitely bring a laptop and an ethernet cord. The cabinets in your room have a lock hole for a lock, you just need to bring a lock.

go to ackerman... they have comps in there.

You can only use it for 20min periods before it logs you off (but you can log on again) @ Ack.

or go to powell library and you can use those computers for an extended period of time

I WOULD bring a laptop just so you can get ahead of your orietnation group

i actually went to the wooden center to use the computers which were always free when i was there...

are you guys are talking about the time when you actually schedule classes? i thought you used your counselor's computer to do that...

You use the couselor's computer on the third day to actually enroll in the classes. However, you need your own computer to schedule the classes, ensure that there are no time conflicts, and fill out an enrollment worksheet.

A LAPTOP IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

theres computers at the terrace food court in ackerman, and you can use the macs in the computer store store as long as its not for hours on end or something.

but yeah, the desks in Vista have a locking drawer so if you dont have a cable lock, you can just get a padlock/masterlock (im sure everyone has one somewhere) to lock it up in the drawer when you leave the room.

definitely bring a laptop. the papers on the walls were confusing as hell.

what kind of a lock fits in the cabinets? a regular padlock? or some special lock with thin wire

My only regret at Orientation was not bringing a laptop. You don't have to use your counselor's laptop to enroll in classes, everyone's accounts are activated on the third day at 9:00 AM.

I think a regular padlock fits.

wow, you guys are funny this year. i brought my laptop last year and had no problem finding wireless. but then again, we lived in sproul last year and you guys are living in our new building this year. >:/. anyway, if you guys are looking for computers, there are computers literally everywhere. if you want to walk all the way to ackerman, don't use the ones on A level. use the ones in the computer store. they have like millions there and they have really fast connections. if you are really really desperate, you can walk to young hall and on the 1st and 4th floor, there are millions of computer labs for all the students in lab. oh and i didn't need to bring a laptop lock last year. i just kept my laptop in my room, nothing happened to it.

yes, a regular combination master lock or something of similar size will fit the drawer lock.
