laptops

Hi, Is there a certain laptop we should purchase for son who is attending in the fall? He will be a math major. He is not a big fan of apple.

Honestly anything with a decent amount of processing power and RAM should work assuming he’s not planning to do anything ridiculous.
I’ve found that most majors - with the exception of some engineers, computer scientists, and artists - can get by with any modern machine.

I tend to like the Lenovo ThinkPad series. They are business class machines that are well built and should hold up yo four years of student use. They are more expensive since you are paying for build quality. If you are on a budget, you can find 2-3 year old models (coming off business leases) on EBay for a decent price.

I would avoid the cheaper laptops. The specs might be okay but the build quality is often lacking.

I’m also a fan of thinkpads. Currently using a thinkpad t440p myself and the thing is durable. I’d also recommend 8 GB of ram.

I’m also a fan of Lenovo. I bought a Lenovo u530 touch about two years ago and it’s still running strong. Pretty solid investment that should last through undergrad if it’s not thoroughly abused.
