<p>I’m currently in the search for a laptop to use in college and was looking for some advice…</p>
<p>My main question is- Should I get an Apple or PC?
I know the PC’s are more compatible, but they also run the risk of abundant viruses…</p>

<p>Are you going to BC next year? If you are, the BC bookstore usually has a computer deal for the students every year. I'm not sure what the computer is going to be this year, but if you want, you can check on the BC bookstore website. It's not free, but I've heard that it is a pretty good deal.</p>
<p>BC is my first-top-primero choice, but I have yet to receive a letter from them.. (maybe a good sign since a lot of my friends got their rejection letters a week ago)</p>

I have worked with MACs my whole life, but I have a feeling I'm going to have to make a switch for college..</p>
<p>I would wait and see if you can get a good deal thru BC. Most students at BC have an IBM think pad that they bought thru the school...at least that's what my daughter got in freshman year. She's a junior now. They have technicians from the company that sells them available on campus for the first few weeks of school to help with any problems. It comes loaded with the software programs you need for BC. Also, wait and see if you need wireless. You can search the BC website for the proper office, or maybe I will look for it and post it here if you want to call or email them.</p>

<p>My daughter is a freshman this year, and last Spring (May? June?) BC sent a mailing regarding a laptop deal they have with Dell (I guess at some point over the last couple of years they must have switched from IBM to Dell). In anycase, we could not beat the deal they were offering us through Dell including the upgradable software and the course Registration software installed, etc, plus the service agreement. We could not get a better deal ... and I even get discounts where I work...but still couldn't get the same configuration for a better price.</p>
<p>Regardless, I think somewhere on the BC website, they actually have recommendations for minumum computer configurations that they suggest ... which may differ depending on whether you are a science major requiring a more robust configuration, or a History major who will only be using word processing and the internet. This is helpful if you wish to venture out on your own.</p>
