What is it like having such a large number of students? I've been looking at schools with about 20k students and isn't austin 40K?

i cant say much for what its like being a student at UT yet, but as a potential student i did visit the campus this fall. for such a ginormous school, it was a surprisingly compact campus given the fact that it's in the middle from a large city. i come from a place where a school with less than half the students would have a campus twice as big as UT, so i actually didnt even feel ike it was *that * big.

It's not that bad. When your walking from class to class you don't really notice such a number. The problem however was trying to go from one side of campus to the other in 10 minutes by walking.

UT has around 52,000 students (give or take). But yeah, for being close to the heart of Austin, the campus is pretty compact. It's about a 15 minute walk from MLK Blvd/21 St. to Dean Keaton (the horizontal path across campus - think McCombs to the engineering buildings).

I'm from West Texas and my sister lives in Austin and attended UT, so I'm on campus quite a bit. When school is in session it really doesn't seem to be filled with 52K other students. Plus, Austin is SO friendly and accepting, you feel like more than just another face at UT.

Needless to say, I can't wait to be there in the fall!
