I’m fairly sure that I will be committing to UW for this fall, but I’m really worried about the large class size. There won’t be much teacher-student interaction & the possibility of falling behind is fairly large if I think about it.
Will this be a major issue if I do choose to go? Or am I just paranoid?
This was my biggest concern about UW too. I’m still an incoming freshman for Autumn 2015 so I don’t have actual experience to comment on this, but these are some of the things I’ve heard.
Yes, classes are very large especially at the intro level. But I know TAs hold mandatory(?) quiz sections which are much, much smaller and you can get some one-on-one help then. Also, I heard professors are generally pretty welcome and open during their office hours. Honestly, if you are motivated enough to go seek out help yourself, I think you should be fine. But if you expect the professors to notice that you aren’t doing well and offer you help, then you’re probably going to fall behind like you said.
