Large School

I go to a pretty huge public school (850+ in my graduating class). I do pretty well anyways (top 10% atleast), but sports haven't went so well. Will the fact that my school is huge help me, or will colleges not care?

BTW, many people were/are in your graduating class (in HS)?

I don't think the size of the class matters that much, unless you're the valedictorian. Otherwise if you're in the top 10%, or top 25%, or whatever, you'd probably be in the same percentile ranking no matter what size your school is.

At a large school it is obviously harder to make a varsity team, so they might take that into account with extracirriculars.

My son's class has 350.

Um, Bump I guess...

"it's a very competetive school, the average writing, physics and chemistry SATs were in the mid 700's. If my scores are lower than that, will it hurt me?"

Average? Are you sure? Even TJHSST's average scores don't reach the mid 700s...

Did your school publish that their averages were this high, or are you deducing it from people you know? Because I have a hard time believing that's true (especially since a school having 2600+ students would lead me to believe it's a true public school).

Average subject test scores are usually much higher than average SATI scores. At my (public) school, both bio tests, math2 and physics have averages in the mid-700s, and chem and USH have averages in the low 700s. I'm getting this right from the school profile. So it's definitely possible.

Ohh, I misread, my apologies.

what about the oppostie situation. say, a graduating class of 11 (myself included). being in the top ten percent means being number one and being in the top 25% means being in the top three. my hs is about 57 kids large and shrinking.

thats crazy, 11 kids? I mean thats kind of cool, but it kind of sucks at the same time, I guess it depends on where you stack up and if the poeple you go to school with are your friends.

it wont matter. 432 in mine

about 230 in mine
