Does anyone have information on Laryngologists in NYC? My daughter's health insurance covers doctors at NY Eye and Ear Voice Center and also at NYU Voice Center. I am unfamiliar with either and would love some feedback before she asks for a referral from her primary physician.
Thanks.

I would PM CoachC, who gave us an excellent recommendation in the Chicago area, and is very knowledgable of who's who in this field. And thankfully the guy we saw (he writes the textbooks, etc., ... highly respected) was covered under our PPO. Very interesting visit - my daughter posted pictures of her vocal cords on her facebook.

Thank you for the suggestion. I sent CoachC an email yesterday and I am hoping to hear back.

To emmom -

GOOD LUCK!

I think my 2 best recommendations in NYC may not be covered under your insurance - they are Lucian Sulica (Cornell Weill Medical Center) and Peak Woo (Mt Sinai). On Friday (when I'm back at work), I can ask my colleagues if there is anyone else at the two places your insurance covers.

P.S. emmom, I didn't get your email :(

Thanks CoachC. The 2 names you mentioned are not covered by my daughters insurance unfortunately. So far we have come up with Milan Amin, Michael Pitman, Lane Krevitt and Jordan Stern in her insurance plan. We have no experience with any of them. There are others but I am slowly going through to figure out who are voice specialists.

I do not know if she is within your insurance network, but I used to go to Dr. Gwen Korovin. She is wonderful and works with many Broadway performers. I was not covered by insurance, and she used to offer what she called a courtesy rate... not sure if she stil does.

It is important to find a docotr who specializes in professional voice users. Many of the issues are different than those that a non-professional will have.

Good Luck!

My daughter has used Dr Korovin in the past but had good medical coverage at the time. We were very pleased with her. I will call and see if she has a courtesy rate. Thank you for the suggestion.
