Hello! I am taking the ACT Test Date on December 12th but I am worried that some of the private schools (which have application deadlines of January 1st) will not receive my scores in time. ACT said it takes 2 weeks to get the multiple choice scores. Does that score report option when registering for the ACT send the colleges the scores immediately at 2 weeks or will they send them to the colleges too late? In other words, if I take the ACT on December 12th, is there any way for colleges with a deadline of January 1st or 2nd to receive my scores in time? Please Help!!
Sorry but you should be worried. My daughter took the Sept 12 test and ACT will not send the score report to the colleges because her writing portion has not been scored yet. Apparently she is not the only one waiting for scores. It has been 5 1/2 weeks and counting. I have been complaining to ACT and they don’t care. They just read from a script and tell you to look on their website and read that it takes 2 to 8 weeks to score the test. Good luck. Hopefully they get their act together.
I also took the ACT on September 12th and I’ve received my writing scores within 3-4 weeks.
Most colleges state on their website which test date they accept for their regular decision round.
All the colleges I’m interested in state that they accept the December test dates.
However, to be 100% sure, you should check every school’s website.
In my opinion, you should be fine.

Check colleges for the last test date accepted for regular admission. If they take the Dec ACT (vast majority), you should be fine including because that means the test score can arrive after the early Jan application deadline. Moroever, many of those colleges even take the Jan SAT test and thus for them you have into Feb to get scores to the college. Also, be aware of typical procedure followed by colleges that have early Jan app regular admission deadlines and accept through the Dec tests. If they have not received your test scores by late Jan, they don’t just automatically reject you. Instead, they send a notice informing you they need the test scores and give you a little time to get them in. In other words, you get a second chance to submit required materials. ((Note that process is usually followed for regular admission but not early action or early decision.)
