December ACT w/ Writing gets to colleges on time?

Hello, all.
I just recently signed up for the December ACT w/ Writing. I'm a bit confused about how the score reporting works. I know that the multiple choice scores will be up by late December, however, the writing scores, according to the website, will come two weeks after the multiple choice scores. On the ACT website, it also states that the multiple choice scores cannot be reported alone but until the writing scores have been added. Given this, if I decide to send in my scores, my scores will not reach colleges until mid or late-January when most deadlines are set for January 1st. Will colleges accept this?

Check the websites for the colleges in which you’re interested. Most I’ve seen will state the latest testing date the college will accept.

One thing to consider is that while your application may be due January 1, it seems that there is some leeway for supporting documentation.

Generally, colleges take through the December test date (SAT and ACT) for regular admission; a number actually take Jan SAT and one I am aware of, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, wants all testing completed by November. The score can arrive after the the specified Jan application date.

Also be aware of what actually happens if a college which takes December test does not get your test in time. Between mid Jan and early Feb (actual date depends on college), the college will send you a notice stating what is missing from your application file and inform you to get it in quickly, thus basically giving you a grace period if something is late.
