I know my ECs are pretty weak in comparison to most kids on CC but don't bash me about them. Also, any ideas to help my chances (or schools that I should consider) are appreciated. Thanks!

gr8 chance for most of them.......best of luck! (not sure abt MIT though...:D)

Do you plan on applying to MIT EA?

how are there so many valedictorians on this site?

that doesn't surprise me though (coz......ha ha!)

I'm thinking about doing MIT EA but first wanna see the general consensus of my chances..

Applying to MIT EA does not help your chances. You listed your ethnicity as mixed; what is it exactly? Because if you are a female URM, your chances at MIT are wonderful.

your awards/EC section is substantially lacking.

What state are you from?

I wouldn't do EA just for better admit chances, more so to take the weight off of April... I know my ECs are substantially lacking in comparison to those on CC (as noted in original post). However, I've yet to understand how so many kids have the time and resources to do half the things they are able to do. I do what I enjoy (and that includes a broad range of things) and if colleges won't accept me because I'm not a nationally-ranked superstar (like the many I've seen on here) then there's nothing I can really do at this point (rising senior). I'm mixed ORM and URM and for applications I will note as such. State... let's just say it is not a very competitive state AT ALL. No East Coast, no West Coast. I think we're one of the lowest in sending kids to colleges (let alone Ivy-caliber).

You have as good a chance as anyone...which at MIT isn't very good.

If anyone could chance the schools on my list other than MIT, I would greatly appreciate it.

Don't worry, ur ECs r still quite neat and handy......and definitely none of the colleges would compare ur ECs w/ the ones of the CCers! :p So, just do what u r doing and what u love to do! ;) And I believe colleges prefer those kids who can reflect their passion thru 'quality' of the ECs NOT at all thru 'quantitiy' or amount!
Best of Luck! :)

Yea i agree with the above post. Dont worry about the lack of EC's but what you've accomplished in the ones that your passionate about. A passion for something always rules over spreading yourself out among too many different things. Colleges will see that you have a passion for piano and tennis and thats what their looking for. Anyways back to your colleges I would say your definetly in at all except for MIT and maybe Brown. Your definetly a competitive candidate for both though so I wouldn't get my hopes down.

Your stats are by far good enough, if your records and essays/rec's are good you should have no problems. And though you may not be in a high volume of ECs, but you have enough (especially with your stats) to show both academic and extracurricular quality, and you seem to stick to your ECs. I think as long as you have good essays I feel you'll have no problem getting in to any of your listed schools.

I actually think that, as a girl, you're more likely to get MIT than you are to get USC or Brown.

As other posters have said, emphasize your level of involvement in the ECs you have. Awards, hours, summer programs. Just saying you've been playing piano for x number of years, won't cut it.

Good luck!

sdfjakdslfjdsoajeiowjaeieowpjeiaorjwoip

snags imaginary cookie

Statistically, you fit the bill for practically all of those schools, and your ECs, while not plentiful, demonstrate passion. I think you have good chances at most of the schools you're applying to, but MIT can be very competitive, and there is no surefire way in...

Now then, to repeat what you commonly post:

"Chance me please. I'll give you an imaginary cookie. ^_^"

lol

u should definitly get into USC and Rice with those scores...even if you did get into MIT, i would still shoot for the all around college expierience and go to USC

i think Brown is definitly a possibility w/ your scores.

My ECs r worse...dont feel bad :(
