one quick bump before bed...

Tufts: 60%
Duke: 30%
Cornell: 35%
Penn: 25%
WUSTL: 40%
Lehigh (Did not receive SAT physics score): ??

Good luck.

Thanks. I don't know if Lehigh confused you, but all I meant by that is they see everything on here except for that score, which I took in december and sent to the other 4, because they require it.

Anyone else? For the record, I think my Cornell and Tufts essays were extremely strong, and the others were very solid as well. I picked very original topics, or creative answers. Nothing too general at all.

Yea, we do have similar stats lol. It looks like you're in Lehigh, from what I've heard about it. I think you have a good shot at all of them. Good luck.

and Cornell's Engineering Physics is ranked #1 in the nation(by US News). I've also heard it's the hardest major they have.

Tufts - Match

Duke, Penn, Wash U - Reasonable Chance

Cornell - Match

Lehigh - Safe Match

thanks! that's along the lines of what I was thinking. Anyone else?

Hey! It's awesome that you want to go into Engineering, I love Physics myself. Haha, having fun in Calc BC and Physics C? Good times. I think a lot of your admission is going to ride on the mid-year report grades for those classes, personally.

I'm just a senior myself, and I don't know a heck of a lot about engineering programs, but if you're doing well in Calc BC, that says a LOT. Your extra curriculars speak well for your interest in science, which is awesome, and also show that you don't have tunnel vision.

Tufts - mmhm
Duke - nah
Cornell - probably
Penn - maybe (I'm assuming you mean UPenn, do you mean Penn State?)
WUSTL -maybe
Lehigh- yeah

Yeah I mean UPenn. My first MP grades were A in physics and A- in Calc BC. Unfortunately, I slipped second MP and got a B+ in physics and a B- in Calc, but I had the second highest grade in both classes. Too bad colleges won't know that. A lot of that had to do with how much stuff was going on, like college admissions, and switching calculus teachers. I'm still going to try to get A's in those classes even though second semester grades won't really affect admission.

bump. Anyone else? :)

People seem to be very generous when they evaluate people's chances @ UPenn---it is an elite university that looks for strong all around talent (as opposed to mere academic gifts for HYP)
An example:

Senior @ my school
4.829 weighted GPA
Accepted : Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Duke, UC Berkeley, UCLA
Rejected: UPenn, Princeton

Cornell is a slight reach not a match.

Wow at those Calc BC grades! Only two students in my whole school (600 seniors) have an A in Calc BC right now. It's an extremely tough class, and one where I think a B is nothing to be ashamed of.

Just out of curiosity, how does your school do it? I've heard that some schools make you take Calc AB first, or treat Calc BC like a science class, where they have a double period every other day or something. We just get a 40 minute period every day; maybe if we had more time I wouldn't have a B-. :(

Anyway, best of luck to you, maybe I'll see you at Penn (my first choice school).

Hmm, never thought that A is a super grade for those who are aiming towards elite schools?! I've taken BC Calc and AP Physics(Mechanics), during my junior year and got A's in both (my school doesn't give A+ , cuz I heard some do). Besides that I live in Moldova, speak Russian at home and go to a Romanian high school, I've completed my junior year in US, so as you can see I've learned all that in a foreign language :)

Tufts - Match
Duke - Reach
Cornell - Match / Slight Reach
Penn - Reach
WUSTL - Reach
Lehigh - Safe Match

cornell is most defienelty not a match...a reach
