Test is next week, but I feel like I'm really unprepared for the critical reading sections (I'm getting around 600). I can get at least 700s on all other sections, but CR is where I'm struggling. It's not the sentence completions, it's the passages. I've already read all the threads relating to the critical reading strategies, tried to put some of their advice into mind when taking a test, but didn't help much. Does anyone have any advice or tips that can maybe help me improve my score?

I too have the same problem with CR. On math and writing i can score 700+ but CR is just a pain. I spent 4 hours this morning with my Blue Book doing all the reading passages. At the beginning i would miss 4 to 5 per passage but now im missing only 1 or 2. I changed the way i answered the questions. Before i would read the whole thing then answer but id do poorly. So, i tried this advice i found somewhere about reading the question, then the first sentence, then the given area, and it was tough at first but i got the hang of it. Seems SAT CR has its questions and answers in a way that once you do it enough you know what they are looking for. I dont know, hope i can score like this or better tmr then on the real SAT.
So i guess my advice is to practice answering CR passages. Best of luck!

I had the same problem with CR as Abyssion did.
To change my score, I found out that I was spending too much time on SC and not enough time actually comprehending the passages(even if I told myself so). Now, I breeze through the SC in 3-4 minutes and work slowly through the passages. Often, it’s because of the fast pace that we miss crucial information and make mistakes.
