Scoring 600+ in Critical Reading.

I havent really been reviewing for the SAT test next week. Ive been taking The Question of the Day quesitons and getting most of them right. What would I need to do to pull off a 600 or above in CR?

Memorize vocabulary. Use the vocabulary list S.F. 3000 posted. Also, read a lot! Do lots of passages and try to focus really hard and read actively by circling transitions, adjectives, etc. Also ask yourself what's the main idea of this passage, what's the purpose/MI of each paragraph, what's the authors tone/attitude, etc. Basically do a lot of reading and memorize vocab!

but isnt it completely random as to what words will appear? I assume studying prefixes wont hurt.

Actually, I studied that list I mentioned and another list by an old member and on the May SAT I knew all of the SC vocabulary and missed one because I misunderstood the meaning of the sentence.

you have that other list?

It's on a different computer...which I dont' have access to

i got 18/19 on my sentence completion, but i was such an idiot that i didn't leave much time for the passages, and ended up making a 620 in CR total. Just remember, use your time wisely, and if you don't know it, skip it. No point in trying to guess and check (like i did.)

Stupid mistakes turn people into me. With a week left, i suggest you take one practice test a day. (I took one tues, wed, thurs, and fri before the May SAT). Take the CR sections only if thats what you're weak in. Don't bother with vocabulary lists when you have one week left.

i got 1 wrong in SC. Gah. I wonder what it was.... Anyways, vocab is key for SC. I didn't do any prefixes, but they WOULD help... I'd go with the whole words though.. I missed 10 total. Got a 660.

Take a TON of practice tests, and learn 500-1000 words (if you are weak at sc). WHen you do practice tests (which i would suggest doing cb tests) look over the explanations. Understand why you got them round. Remember to read around the lines the passage mentiones. Never make Assumptions.
I did this, I went from a 55 on the psat this year to a 710 on the SAT this year.
