Late App and out of state

Hello, i am from NY and i applied to michigan (LSA) on thanksgiving break. My credentials are as follows (and im a minority):
- sat V: 680
- sat M: 690
- michigan recalculated gpa: 3.11 (2 ap's in junior year with 1 honors and 3 honors in sophomore year)
-good extraciraculars in field of computers(internship as a network technician)
-good amt of volunteer work
-pretty good recommendation i guess...i wudnt know
-pretty good essays too....

my gpa is low..i know but i had a late realization in life about getting good grades :(. I really wish they wud look at my senior mid year report...cuase i completely changed junior and senior year...its jus that my sophomore year is bringing me down so much. I believe i can truely succeed in michigan with the motivation i have developed now, i jus wish they cud understand that somehow.

What slight chance do i stand of getting in :(...and is there a way i can tell them to look at my midyear report and then make the decision?

You should be hearing soon hopefully, and I think it will be good news. I got in last week and applied around the same time as you.

where are u in the US cause i think they do it by region...and what were ur stats...if u dont mind me asking :)

i don't think it's too late... i applied later than you did, so my chances are even worse lol.

i pretty much have the same stats, and applied the same time you did, and I still didn't hear yet, but I applied to engineering, let me know when you hear something, hopefully it'll be good news

my gpa scares me big time...its so bad...i wish i can go back in time...:( but can ppl tell me honestly if they think im def rejected..i dont mind honesty

you call that late app??? i applied TODAY. >_>

If you got B's and C's in your sophomore year and mostly A's in junior and senior years, you should ask your counselor to explain that for you in the counselor report (or she can follow up with a letter with your mid-year grades to admissions on your behalf). They do consider upward trends. However, with your GPA at 3.11 and out-of-state, you want to make sure that you get a chance for the adcoms to see your mid-year grades. Michigan doesn't normally ask for your mid-year report.

hey...thanx for that tip. Im going to do just that, i talked to one of the admissions officers today and she said that i have to send in the mid year report and tehy will consider it only if my decision wont be made yet. If the decision is made, i might have to appeal the decision. so hopefully within a week or so they dont make a decision :). but thanx a lot for that suggestion!
