*late enviromental science*

fellow earthlers! how did it go??
i thought that the MC was allright and that FRQ was easier than i had feared. but now that i think about it now... MC.. was kind of awful.
opinions?

Whoops, I made a topic and didn’t notice this one. I’ll just copy paste what I had said and add a little more:

The multiple choice were actually really easy, except for that question about the best ordering of alfalfa, corn, wheat, and something else in crop rotation, and that question on that random environmentalist. I finished them with like 30 minutes left. The FRQs weren’t so bad, except the math with the tons of CO2 and the other one with percentages really drained my time(We take calculators for granted these days <.<). Are cooling towers a good way for manufacturing companies to conserve water, because I put that for one of them. I didn’t really know how ethanol could contribute to the dead zone in the Gulf, so i just put the pollutants it releases run off when it rains and they bond with O2 or cause global warming causing more O2 to evaporate out. I didn’t remember many negative effects of removing mountaintops, but I put the obvious one of ecosystem/habitat destruction. I also put increased erosion but I don’t know if that is valid.

Don’t talk about questions you idiot.

This is not relating to any AP MC:

corn>alfalfa>wheat>othercrop I’m pretty sure, for most diversity and alfalfa & other were mentioned earlier as good for crop rotation, so best to mix in evenly w/ corn/wheat.

Math pretty easy, some other essays kinda shaky, jimbo I put pretty much the same for mt removal, it seems right.

Why higher demand of ethanol contributes to hypoxic zone:
-ethanol comes from crops
-crops use fertilizer
-fertilizer has nitrogen
-nitrogen > ocean & subsequent eutrophication
-eutrophication > hypoxic (which takes forever to describe, so I won’t).

But why the *** is wind energy bad for environment? It kills birds, but what else? Turbines hardly disrupt environment, according to prep books. So???

Wind farms cause high levels of noise pollution that can harm a person’s hearing.

I think it was pretty good. I finished the mcq’s with 30 mins to spare. Unfortunately, I wasn’t 100% sure about my answers =(. The frq’s were pretty fun, but the cumbersome calculations get annoying… btw, how many of you ccers self-studied for this? (because i did).

yeah i thought that too on the wind problem… i ended up using disrupts bird migration patterns/kills birds and it ruins the aesthetic value of the land. Both of which i dont believe it has a significant affect upon.

some questions i had problems with:
species in tropical rain forest 40%
majority of waste comes from where? industrial, municipal, etc
nuclear waste storage: adjacent facilities?
urban sprawl caused by car accessibility? I used process of elimination on that
aswan high dam on one of the first mcs?
malady caused by natural mineral: crypto…sis?
john muir founded sierra club?
crude birth rate is births per 1000 women in fertile years?

i got myself to remember more, but atm i cant recall anymore

I’m pretty sure it was 40%; although the oceans might have more species.
I think I put industrial.
For this I remember putting in stable geologic areas. Toxic waste is usually disposed of this way from what I remember from my class.
Yes, urban sprawl (suburbanization) was caused by the advent of the automobile. There was actually a FRQ on the effects of the automobile growth from 1920 to 1960 for the AP US History test today, so this question was a piece of cake to me. This question also had the year 1960. =D
Aswan Dam, I had no clue about. I put chlamydia, since it lives in water.
Malady caused by natural mineral was asbestosis. The rest of the choices were caused by pathogens.
I left John Muir blank.
Crude birth rate is births per 1000 people. The women choices were traps that I almost fell for too.

I thought the test was pretty simple. But you guys should really exercise caution when discussing this stuff, because college board could be watching :O

I also self-studied, and I’m pretty sure this has to be the easiest ap test administered.

Yeah, I wasn’t too sure about that one. Too bad I don’t remember the choices; otherwise I would have checked now.

I checked now and yes, John Muir did establish the Sierra Club. Nice, eyfedt.
