Late financial aid submission

I was recently accepted into the Carleton class of 2020 and thankfully I submitted my $300 deposit and confirmation of attendance to the school before the may 1st deadine. Unfortunately, I neglected to sign and send back the financial aid award that they gave me. Even though the Carleton admissions and financial aid staff are really understanding, I was still wondering what could possibly happen. Will they accept a simple apology, or will they take away the money that they gave me?

Many schools allow you to accept the financial award online now, through the student portal-- is that possible?

I would be very surprised if they revoked the award. Put your mind at rest – call them and ask directly.

The online portal doesn’t have this feature…

Thank you, I was planning on calling them tomorrow morning

You may have already called the FA office, so let us hear your results. But…

We were in the same situation one week ago (May 2), with us wishing to make some FA adjustments to the agreement before signing the financial aid award agreement. Via email, the FA office response seemed very relaxed and just told us to sign and snail-mail it into them, telling us the would make the revisions sometime May/June. So I don’t think you have anything to worry about

A phone call and snail mail, and you should be fine. Carleton’s financial aid office probably has some of the most dedicated and compassionate people on the planet . . . and I’m sure this is a mistake that they see dozens of times each year!

P.S. Congratulations on your admission!!!
