I'm done with interview, standardized tests, and application forms, but not letter's of recommendation yet. If the letters will not be postmarked on January 1st, will I be excluded from the admission process?

Do you think TOEFL taken on January is also considered, as SAT/ACT taken on January is considered?

Recommendations can come in after the application deadline. Admissions is lenient with documents that are late that are not under your control. I think that all tests taken in the month of January are considered. Have your scores sent directly to MIT to make sure they get there on time.

I don’t think I can make it before January 1st, but I’m sure that my rec letters will reach to the admission office soon enough if that option will be used. Thanks for your advice.

Please don’t spend extra money on getting recs in on time. MIT admissions have said many times that there is a grace period for documents expected from counselors and teachers. Besides, they even get back to any applicant if something in their file is missing, like test scores or recs and give them time to resubmit.
