Latest ranking of International Affairs/Relations Programs by Foreign Policy Magazine

The latest article by Foreign Policy that ranks undergrad programs for international relations did not include GW's Elliott School!

Last year George Washington was ranked 10th out of 20.

Here is the link for this year's rankings

Why did George Washington drop off the list? Did the magazine want to include different schools this time?

The methodology is clear enough:

“Every two years, we survey international relations faculty from every four-year college and university in the United States, as identified by U.S. News & World Report. The 2008 results include the responses of 1,743 scholars collected between August and November of last year.”

Elliott didn’t make the list because fewer than 2% of international relations faculty nationwide named it.

I realize how they came up with the list, but I was trying to understand why George Washington wasn’t named by enough international relations faculty. They were 10th place just last year and I’m pretty sure that a considerable number of faculty wouldn’t have been replaced.

What does this mean for incoming freshmen?

it doesn’t really mean anything for anyone.
