Pretty simple question: when is the latest time to take the SAT/ACT and have the scores be received in time for regular admission? I'm planning on taking the SAT again in January.

Are the testing deadlines for the top-tier colleges more lax?

well it would obviously depend on the college's deadline, but i know the october 27th ACT is usually the last one people can take to get their apps in time. don't quote me on this cuz i dont know a thing about ivy schools n stuff, but i have heard they are pretty strict on deadlines n they are probly pretty early. i know the EA people will be getting their decisions in a week or two, some have already arrived. i know there is another ACT date in october and you will be able to meet some deadlines, but i would assume that the deadline for many top tier colleges would be up by then.

RD - It's basically almost always December from the schools I've seen. It is not more lax at top-tier colleges. The ones I'm applying to (Stanford, Yale, Brown, etc) have December as their last date. Same thing for UCs. But, in such a case, you don't wait to receive your scores, and then order scores to be sent to the schools. You send the scores right off the bat.
