So I’m in eight grade and at my school they make you start latin in seventh grade, and a foreign language (i did spanish) in grade five. So next year I can drop one of those and my parents said that i have to do spanish but i don’t know what do with latin!!! Because if i skip it I get more free blocks, but if i do it yknow… so yeah! help!!
Is there anything specific you want to do instead of Latin? Do you strongly dislike Latin? If the answer is no, you might as well take it since you have a background in it. Foreign languages are always looked well upon and useful, especially Latin once you start getting in SAT vocab and such.
Are you sure you’d end up with a free block? Freshman at most schools have little choice in their schedule other than choosing which foreign language to take. At my school, due to various graduation requirements, it was impossible to take 2 foreign languages simultaneously as a freshman.
Otherwise, I’d suggest looking at any non-core-subject graduation requirements that you can knock out of the way, like art/music/computer science.
Stick with Latin. When you’re 40 years old and turn to Seneca for pleasure and fulfillment, you’ll thank me.
If you can take both Spanish and Latin subject tests and score well, or take one to AP Level and one to High School Level 3, it’ll be very good for selective colleges.
yeah, at my school they give a lot of free space in your schedule. Many high schoolers have already told me that if i didn’t do latin, i’d have free blocks. No matter what i’ll have to drop either latin or spanish by 11th grade though.
Take both until you can take both subject tests.
