I learned Latin and French in middle school for two years, but now I can’t decide if I will take Latin or French in high school. Any suggestions? thanks!
Latin “gave birth” to many different languages - english, french, spanish, etc. Learning latin can help you learn other european languages easier. French, you can use it in many countries and it can be a job boost as well.
Both are essentially “dead languages” these days, but at least learning Latin root words might help raise your SAT verbal section scores?
I’m sure the residents of France, Quebec, Belgium, Haiti, etc. etc. will disagree.
Take whichever one you will enjoy more or has the better teacher or will help you in the future or reaches a higher level. Each has its own plusses and minuses, so in the end, it’s a personal choice.
Does your high school offer both through AP level?
