One area in which JHU can improve its marketing is undergraduate research. A lot of students are looking for places that offer strong opportunities for undergraduate research. The undergraduate research opportunities at JHU are one of its greatest strengths, yet relatively few people know about it, and you have to dig pretty deep to find out.

For example, if I Google “Undergraduate research UPenn”, this is the first hit:

[Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships](<a href=“Penn CURF”>Penn CURF)

And “Undergraduate research Duke” brings me here:

[Duke University | Undergraduate Research: Home](http://undergraduateresearch.duke.edu/)

“Undergraduate research Johns Hopkins” takes me to an obscure page in the biology department (reinforcing the view that JHU is just a bio/med school):

[Undergraduate Research](http://www.bio.jhu.edu/Undergrad/Research.aspx)

The fourth hit on Google takes me here:

[Provost’s Undergraduate Research Awards](Provost's Undergraduate Research Awards)

That’s a little better, but compare it to Duke’s site. Which university looks like it provides better opportunities for undergraduate research? This is an area in which JHU was a pioneer and remains a leader. Why not advertise it?
