Laundry at USC?

I was just wondering if a current USC student could tell me how paying for laundry works. Do you use quarters for the machines or is there a specific card for laundry. I'm going to be living in Pardee this year. Thank you!!

not a current student, but they explained this during the dorm tours at orientation. How it works is that each student gets a card when they move in that is rechargeable but can only be used for the laundry machines. It’s $1.25/load to wash and $0.75 to dry. So you don’t need quarters. And then I believe each building has its own laundry room. I know the one at Parkside IRC (which I toured, though I’ll be in A&H next year) is pretty big, but our guide said the New/North one is pretty small (I don’t know whether there’s one for New/North or one for New and one for North, sorry).

thank you wisdomsomehow! that was all i needed to know  which dorm are you going to be in this year??

Oh man, they’re raising the prices? Last year I paid $1 to wash and 50 cents to dry.

That is true about some of the buildings at USC, but not all. In Parkside IRC that’s not how it works. There you can either use quarters or discretionary. Discretionary is money that you put on your USC ID card. You can use it anywhere on campus- the bookstore, food places, the pharmacy, vending machines, etc. However in other buildings, there are machines that use cards that are only for laundry like wisdomsomehow described. Last year laundry was $1 and drying was $0.50. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were raising prices, though.

What about Parkside A & H? I don’t recall hearing anything about laundry machines at orientation, so I assumed it was all quarters.

really? I’m in A&H for 2010-2011, and the schedule at orientation said we’d be touring A&H, but we actually toured IRC. We stopped in the laundry room and our guide explained that we get the cards that are only used for laundry, but I think you can load them up from discretionary maybe? I don’t know. And yeah, the move-in brochure that I just got a few days ago lists the prices I mentioned for laundry. But our tour guide definitely said that we don’t use quarters.

I’m just the mom, but my son has no recollection. Typical.

There is a laundry card that you use. It’s separate from your ID card.

How bout for the radisson
