I am currently a Sophomore Undergraduate and have landed an internship with a big name law firm. This firm is consistently top 5 according to survey by partners, survey by associates and overall Vault rankings. The work I will do won't allow me to learn much about the field (b*tch work and busy work mostly).

For Law School, is it better to do irrelevant work and have that prestigious big name Law Firm on my resume/app or should I go to a smaller (even starting up firm) and learn more and do meaningful work?

Why not just do both? This is your second year. If you don’t like the work you do after this semester, do a smaller firm after your third year. Or you could realize that there is no such thing as the “meaningful work” you thought you’d be able to do, and you completely change your mind about law school.

If it’s working as a paper clerk at DPW or any V100 firm, then you probably wouldn’t get much out of it other than observing what real BigLaw attorneys do. What you choose to do probably wouldn’t matter for law school application, so just do what interests you.

I think that answered my question. I think I’ll stick with the big name firm for now and see if a better opportunity arises. Then, I will move on.

Second Question:
What is better, having one consistent job/internship for several years or several different jobs/internships at different firms? Or is it irrelevant in law school admissions?
