I'm planning to work at a law firm after college for about 1-2 years before I attend law school. Which position should I look for, legal secretary or legal assistant? What's the difference? And what's a good way to look for these job openings, particularly at prestigious law firms.

My advisor says trying to get some internship related to the field of your interest. I kinda think it’s gonna be hard for a undergraduate to get experience. Any wisdom?

Para legal. A good way to look is through your college’s alumni network. Times are tough in big law right now, probably not a lot of hiring going on.

thank you hmom5.

I would also suggest to get some experience from non-profit org or ngo org. Since most are un-paid, it might be easier to get an internship.

Paralegal in an area of your interest would be best. But as hmom5 said jobs are hard to find. My D’s friend from a top 25 school graduated in May and just got a paralegal position after months of sending out resumes meeting with contacts, etc.
