Does anyone have any info on the pre law advising in McDonough undergraduate / any suggestions on what to take during my first year? Also, any info on the early assurance program and how it works with the undergrad b-school would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey! I’m an entering freshman as well. I can’t tell you about pre law advising in MSB because I’m in SFS but I do know the Early Assurance Program is the same for everyone. It is open to all Georgetown undergrad students in all schools. Here’s a link for more info: [Georgetown Law Early Assurance Program](<a href=“Cawley Career Education Center | Georgetown University”>Cawley Career Education Center | Georgetown University)

Just a general tip because I want to go to law school to… don’t worry too much about taking “law-related” classes during undergrad. Law schools don’t care about that. Just have a strong gpa in your major and have a strong sense on why you want to go to law school.

As a lawyer (who attended Georgetown Law School), I would advise you to take courses in American Government and American History. You should have a basic understanding of the American system of government upon entering law school. Other than that, as a general rule, there are no specific courses that I would view as necessary.

Perhaps also courses in public speaking. And writing.

Also, I would take advantage of internship opportunities in Washington.

I don’t think you need to take actual courses on the law while at undergraduate school.
In other words, a “Legal Studies” major is not necessary.
