Law school with an International Relations major?

I’m planning to major in International Relations and have not decided on a minor as of yet. I’m between Economics and Philosophy because I want to go to law school. I’ve seen a lot of suggestion towards Philosophy and Econ as majors rather than minors for law school admission, due to the emphasis on critical thinking and preparation for LSATs, but I really like International Relations coursework and want to keep doors open for possible careers in Int. Business or foreign service if I end up changing my mind in the next four years.

As long as I keep my undergrad GPA up and score high enough on LSATs, would being an IR major affect my chances of acceptance to Ivy League law schools?

No, it wouldn’t. It’s unclear whether economics and philosophy majors score higher on the LSAT because their majors prepare them better OR because the kinds of people who want to major in economics or philosophy (logical thinkers with good abstraction skills) just have qualities that enable them to do better on the LSAT. But your admission to law school is going to be based primarily on LSAT scores and GPA, so go ahead and major in IR if you want.
