which school between Lawrenceville and Deerfield would you prefer????????????????????????????????????????
I have a tough and important choice to make!

Deerfield. Go to revisit, you owe them both that. :)

Good luck!

If you need financial aid, choose the school which offered you the best package.

If the offers are equal, or you don't need financial aid, choose the school you prefer. They are both fine schools.

Have someone ask you, "which school?" Then answer really quickly, without thinking.

A portion of lawrenceville kids go home on weekends, esp to NYC, for parties, etc. Campus may be a bit bare on some weekends. On the other hand, parents drop by on their private planes/helicopters to take kids out to dinner at Deerfield on weekends. ;) Lawrenceville also doesnt have the zero tolerance policy (not sure about DA) But seriously, if theres FA, choose the school with the best one

Deerfield has no classes on Saturdays. L'ville has Saturday classes and games/practice in the evenings, and some social event in the evenings, so most kids actually stay in school as it is usually not worth going to NYC/Philly for one night as they have to be back at school by 7 pm Sunday evening. Both schools were my son's top choices. He got rejected at Deerfield, so I am not sure which one he would have chosen. Deerfield is more preppy, more of an athletic culture. Both have beautiful campuses, so go visit and you will know which one you will be more comfortable in. L'ville is extremely diverse.

NOLAtennis, I'm a Deerfield student and if it helps at all Ive answered some questions you might have in this thread.

And 'mhmm', but it sounds like you don't have much, if any, first-hand experience with Deerfield.

oh but I do

DEERFIELD!! They have GREAT sports, fantastic academics, and a beyond gorgeous campus, no Saturday classes, a great sense of community, a high boarding focus, tons of school spirit, and even though it's in the middle of nowhere, I hear that they always have trips to do stuff off-campus or fun stuff going on on-campus so that you never get bored. And b/c of the high boarding focus (meaning more boarders less day), the campus won't empty out even though the weekends are long!

Deerfield has:
More international students
Higher SAT scores
Higher boarding focus (by far)
Lower teacher:student ratio
More faculty with an advanced degree
Higher endowment
Lower tuition
Higher SSAT scores
Lower acceptance rate (which is a good thing, b/c only the best kids can go there (: )
