Both look like great schools, received acceptances for both (w/FA and w/scholarship) amongst others, but need help...

Tough to compare, which is a "better" school between these two? Just wondering if there is an obvious advantage to one or the other, it'd hard to see through all the joy of the "yes" letters.

are you going back on the revisit days? I would check them both out and see which environment, classes, people, you like better.

Yes… we will be visiting on the re-visit days, precisely for those reasons. I think it’s also a question of how the schools are viewed by colleges, and in general… which is “better”. We are still newbies to boarding school, and have read a lot about the schools, yet, would like some input from folks here.

A few hundred heads are better than two or three… I hope!

Lawrenceville and Choate were 2 of 3 schools my S had to choose between last year – and it is a difficult choice. Both student bodies are similar in size, and I thought both campuses are also lovely. Lawrenceville sends more kids to Princeton, Choate sends more to Yale (this can partly be attributed to the fact that Princeton and Yale being respectively close to the schools, have children of the professors at the school as well). Revisits will help alot, and after going to all of them, my son had a definite preference. But he’s at Choate, and we’ve all been extremely happy with the choice. (I also think he would have been happy at Lawrenceville, as well as many other schools too). I will add that there were some specific interests that my son had in which we felt that Choate was stronger, and that also influenced our decision. If there is a special academic or sports interest, definitely set up a meeting with the head of the department when you go to revisits. You’ll get a sense of how strong the programs are, and where they see you fitting into that program (ie, would you be one of many, get special attention, lots of courses to choose from in that area, etc.). It is a difficult but enviable choice! PM me if you have any questions and best wishes!

Thanks so much, that’s what I’m lookig for -check your PMS!
