Layoffs at Biglaw Firms

<p>I know it is not as well publicized as those at financial firms, but do the readers here realize that massive layoffs are happening to new as well as experienced associates at the big law firms? People who have borrowed heavily for top law schools are shut out after realizing their short lived dream of landing a lucrative job at top law firms. All firms have delayed the start dates of incoming class, some to the fall of 2010.</p>

<p>Students who will incur large loans to attend law school should pause to reconsider. Just because you can attend (name your top law school here) doesn't mean you should.</p>

<p>They do if they've been coming here for a while. There was a thread about it a month or so ago.</p>

<p>The financial crisis was bound to eventually affect law firms, mainly because the banks and other financial institutions that have been affected were some of the law firms' top clients.</p>

<p>It's been a real bloodbath the last couple of weeks. I'm sure many of you are abovethelaw fans. (Put a www in front of it and a DOT com after if you don't know what I'm talking about.) It's just plain scary.</p>
