It bugs me. My science teacher is one of the laziest. It's integrated honors (obviously not a difficult class), but still.

Grades were due today, and there are only four. I checked online. Lol, I have 100 on all of them. They are all from November. I don't understand how teachers can't take the time to put in at least ONE assignment a week? Every two weeks? Come on.

It sucks how my teachers wait forever to put in grades and then having to fight on the last day if they make an error - which of course, they do.

Then what's even worse is when they dont' have time to grade the long azz assignments I spend forever doing, and then they'll throw guilt trips on us if we didn't do it. Don't assign us work if you can't even simply take a half hour if that to grade 20 assignments and put it in the computer.

I whole-heartedly agree with the last part of your sentence. I wrote a paper for my English class about particular strong and weak points of a novel called Beloved. I spent countless hours painstakingly weaving my points, and I handed it in DECEMBER 5TH. Still no word on them. Actually, that's not quite true. He did inform us today that he still hasn't looked at them. Every day I ask, and everyday he just smiles and shakes off the question.

believe it or not, unlike you, lazy teachers tend to have a life outside of grades. it scares me how obsessed with numbers some people are on this site

To Foreman, I understand that. Hell, I have a life too. I would've much preferred to go out than write that essay. And I'm not obsessed with the number, I'd just really like to see what he thought of my work. I put a lot of effort into it, and essentially, it's insulting that he doesn't think it's worth the time to read them. Considering there're only 18 kids in my class, doesn't it seem at least a little unreasonable that after two months he hasn't read a single word?

@Foreman: look, I understand that teachers aren't going to give us papers back in a day or a week, but I think two weeks is pretty fair. Also, I manage to get virtually every assignment done within a reasonable amount of time and if I forget, I'm heavily punished. What really irks me is when you forget your work once all year and the teacher throws a fit and gives you a zero, but God forbid you complain about them taking 3 weeks + to grade one stupid 2 page paper and they respond "I can't do everything, I'm only human."

Foreman, before insulting me maybe you should understand my point.

I'm talking about lazy teachers, overall. First of all, you don't know these lazy teachers. And they have a life? Oh, you're right. I don't. My main priority is doing homework and getting credit. IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO GRADE SOMETHING I TURN IN, THEN DON'T ASSIGN IT.

And my main point is
If i have four grades in a course at the end of a quarter, doesn't that tell you something is wrong? The last grade was Nov. 21 08. You tell me is that excusable, lazy, or just downright pathetic?

And you try to say I don't have a life, you don't know me at all. Why don't you quit being so judgmental and try reading and interpreting my posts before making a judgment so quickly?

LMU: just be happy he/she didn't drop a huge test on your lap w/o notice because he didn't have enough grades for the quarter.....D2 was just dumped with a huge test with one day notice....

I hate that so much. I know exactly what you mean.

Teachers should set a good example for students by grading stuff in a timely manner. If they want us to turn the damn stuff in, then they should grade and return it asap.

It really bugs me when a teacher returns an assignment or test that I took a month a ago or more. I'm like wth? I barely even remember this.

The OP isn't complaining about not taking assignments for grades, he's talking about how long it takes his teacher to put the grades in the gradebook. I personally love lazy teachers. :P

SHE'S NOT PUTTING THEM IN FOR GRADES.
We have about 10 grades put in per quarter, and we NEVER KNOW which they are going to be.

Quote; Then what's even worse is when they dont' have time to grade the long azz assignments I spend forever doing, and then they'll throw guilt trips on us if we didn't do it.
Don't have time to grade assignments. Thus, they DON'T get it done.

I'm not talking about getting them in the computer, which she doesn't do either.

The QUOTE i took is actually from my original post.

My English teacher is "your definition" of a lazy teacher. That doesn't bug me as much. She waits till about a week before to put in all the grades, and gives us reports. That's perfectly fine.

My Science teacher is what bugs me. I do all this work and only 10 or so assignments get put in? Fine, say it's whining. I got a 90 A- first quarter, 100 A+ this quarter (so far). It's pretty much if I screw up on one assignment, you're screwed.

At least you guys got 100s on your midterms.
I had a really lazy and stupid teacher last year who made us write two essays in an hour and twenty min. and then was too lazy to grade them. She then gave everyone a 90 and acted like she was granting us a favor by giving us "As".

My AP Bio teacher has a philosophy that I find to be great: "I won't start taking off late points until I start grading it."
This has helped me out sooooo much. Sometimes I just don't do a lab till 2 weeks after it was due, and I still get a 100 on it b/c he hadn't started grading them yet when I turned it in.

@OP - Seriously, you need to calm down. So what if your teacher is lazy? Do you think you're the only one who has ever had a pathetic teacher? I had one AP teacher in high school who gave us many long tests and essays, stuffed them in a box, and forgot about all but three of them.

Just wait until college, when your professor unexpectedly curves your grade down by a whole letter grade at the end of the semester.

Life is too short for you to get upset over these small problems.

I don't mind lazy teachers. If it takes them a long time to post grades or if they only give scantron tests because they don't feel like grading by hand, that's fine.

Incompetent teachers, on the other hand... now THOSE I can't stand. At all.
