Someone should have created the discussion. Who is applying to LBW 2019? How are your applications going on? Any advice from past participants? Good luck everyone!
Hey yeah I’m applying. Haven’t done much yet rip, and apparently admission rates are getting lower every year.
BobsaidYo, Agree(. Are you an international applicant? I am but I did not pass any SATs. I think I am such an uncompetitive applicant
@aiko77 Yeah I am but it doesn’t make much of a difference (I think?) because US students apply to LEAD.
You don’t need to take a standarised test, although it is recommended. If your current academic course is enough (IB/AP/A levels or whatever) that should do.
I think that most applicants will have stellar grades so it really comes down to the extracurriculars, awards, essays, and recs.
Good luck, and don’t think you are uncompetitive! You don’t need prior business experience and hopefully we’ll make it lol.
@BobsaidYo Thanks! Good luck to you as well! Btw where are you from?
@aiko77 I have an international background and I live in China. You?
@BobsaidYo I am from Kazakhstan
Can someone chance me, I would be very grateful
PSAT: 1520/1520
GPA: 3.92
College Courses: Number Theory, Multivariable Differential Calculus, Linear Algebra, Diff Eq (A in all of these and submitting transcripts)
ECs:
- Working on a research paper as a hired research contributor for UC Davis's graduate school. I am devising a methodology to quantify the social impact generated by investment in private equity funds and creating dollar for dollar social entrepreneurship metric for investors. The professor is writing a rec for me as well.
- Interned at a mutual fund over the summer where I publish ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reports to ESG integrate the entire funds' portfolio. I also built this analytical model (a bit too complex to explain here) which saves hours of data collection and quickly quantifies these factors.
- Captain of the squash team and coach.
- Data research assistant to this professor at Carnegie Mellon and compiled a national database for his working paper on the market externalities.
I don’t really have any massive leadership experience besides squash, so I don’t really know what my chances are.
@Dev5 omg, you have got way more chances of getting in than I do. There is so much leadership in your ECs! Sure you would be accepted!
What are my chances of getting in?

EC
- Started an after school program at my local elementary school teaching students the basics of computer
programming and 3D design. - President of my Toastmaster International club (a speech and debate club that I have been apart of for 3 years).
Got recognition for a few speech competitions
-FBLA public speaking 3rd place section regionals(also treasurer of FBLA)
-Lions club speech competition district winner - Track and Field Captain
- CyberPatriot captain (cybersecurity competition; we made it to national semifinals last year and this year as well).
- I also resell hyped street wear online which I can elaborate on as experience in e-commerce.
The thing that worries me the most is that I don’t have too much experience in “business”. I haven’t learned much about economics and I didn’t start a nonprofit or own businesses or raise tens of thousands of dollars. I’m also nervous since this first semester I got my first B ever and I know colleges don’t like to see downward trends. But with my stats and EC above, how are my chances?
what did you guys put for the short answer question asking about the most significant challenge in the world of business today?
I didn’t even take the SATs because my school is an English school
And I"am that it will lower my chances to get in
@CPL_645 I do not think you should worry because e-commerce is a business related experience. I think on significant challenge section you should write something that you believe is.
@Glassgurl I did not take them either
Who recieved a confirmation email?
I havent, even though all my forms and sections were completed
Chances?

Awards: Breakthrough award at a leadership class (Dale Carnegie), Mensa (I know it’s annoying I joined for Mensa honors society which I haven’t applied to yet), NHS
Optional Essay: Talked about how I want to learn how to create an effective business model, how I am interested in Wharton and LBW can let me find out if I’m the right fit, and how I have business experience that I feel will contribute to the program
Personal Information: Used words that described me as curious and compassionate, talked about how home has evolved as a feeling around people I have a relationship with rather than a place I reside, and business challenge was how corporations have to adapt to new forms of payment such as cryptocurrency, Apple Pay, etc.
Bonus: Submitted pictures of my tutoring website that allows clients to deposit funds and send them to tutors directy, like Uber but for local tutors
