It is one of my options this summer attending the LEAD business program, which I believe is hosted by Wharton. I thought would be a great opportunity to get the little taste of the field that I want to dedicate my life on, as well as putting up a little hook on my application, but the question is will attending this program be a hook?

absolutely not

nope sorry - do something noteworthy or be a minority (not asian though).

Actually, I did the LEAD program at Wharton in 2006 and I think it really helped me get into Wharton. Out of my class of 30, 15 are at Penn, 3 at Harvard, 3 at Yale, 2 at Princeton, and 1 at Stanford. I would highly recommend the program, you not only get to know the school really well (which will show in admissions essays) but you will get to see if you would like to go to school here or not.

LEAD is hosted by a lot of schoools and everyone once to go to Wharton's program.......if you are blessed enough to do LEAD at Wharton then do it!
You get an interview with your regional director and classes taught by actual Wharton professors! I think it is hook as many LEADers are a Penn, and they continue to pump money into this program, which was designed to get high achieving minorities to Penn

yea i dont know what you guys are thinking, but lead is a hook for wharton. first of all, its sponsored by wharton and is centrally located at upenn. not only that, but lead is a selective, reputable program. it's definitely a hook. maybe not as great a hook as being a legacy or a 5 million dollar donor.

The LEAD program was created to introduce high achieving minorities to the world of business who otherwise may overlook it. The universities that host the 3-4 week program are all top notch, ( Penn, Mich, Stanford...) and will subsequently be admitting high achieving students, including those of color. Of course while you are not a sure thing into those schools, showing your interest in those schools as well as your interest and knowledge in business can't hurt. If you attend LEAD though, do it to gain the knowledge and experience (life-long friendships and memories) rather than just as a hook.

I know the lead program is for minorities. however, do they accept a lot of asians? is the lead program hard to get into?

anybody know?

I went to Wharton's summer program Leadership in the Business world. last year about half got into wharton then, and you get about 5 business seminars a day, go to american express, deloitte, gsk... the most amazing summer experience in the world. im serious, check it out.

I went to LEAD and agree with @taebubu.

Yeah LBW and LEAD are both major hooks for acceptance into Wharton. There’s no denying it considering the number of students that get accepted in such elite schools (and especially Penn of course).
