What kind of speeches compel you to vote for the speaker?
Funny one? or serious one? or one of those cliched "If you vote for me, I'll do this and that"? or others?

I'm having a problem because I want this position really badly but I don't know what kind of speeches persuade people to vote for me. I'm not sure if I have like natural charisma...

There are no bad speech methods or topics, only bad speeches. Sorry.

The answer to your question varies for most people, but expect people to vote for the one that appeals to them the most, whatever that may mean to any given person. So if you've got a funny quip to make, go ahead. If you've got plans that you think people will care about, highlight them. If you've got an exciting vision for the future of whatever you're involved in, inspire the masses with it.

make sure you make it clear who you are, why you are running, and why you would make the best candidate for that position. most importantly tho, keep it brief, you need to keep your audience's attention just long enough that they like you without being boring. i never used an humor in my speeches, but i wasnt entirely uptight and serious during them. Of course there is always that element of "popularity." if you go to a large school where not everyone knows you it would be a good idea introduce yourself to people and try to gently persuade them to vote for you in person, if you go to a smaller school where everyone knows you that might not help. anyway these techniques helped me get elected class treasurer for all 4 years of high school.
