Learning how to juggle...life?

So im stressed. Too much going on at school, at home, everywhere. It's my junior year, school is hard, SATS/ACTS looming over my head, im EIC of my paper plus have a few major other activities (that i truly do enjoy) and im worried about my grades, right now they are so-so...mostly high 80's and lower-mid 90's...but those arent the standards I live by.

What should I Do? I have no life. Literally. I've been sick alot lately, and I have had to turn in some work late since I have not been in school..I really don't want to give my teachers a bad impression of me. How did u guys learn to juggle everything? I know, and I don't need to be retold the fact that I got myself into this "mess". besides, junior year was supposed to be hard...but how do I survive with success?

Honest advice is appreciated.

Thanks as awlays -

you should have gone to an easier high school.

there is no way to balance what you have. accept it.

just find your fun at school. ive known people who were totally outgoing at school and were ridiculously popular, but were busy 100% of the time outside of school. thats pretty much what you should be striving for.

Utilize your time better. Do something and do it completely, don’t try and multitask and end up half-assing everything over a longer period of time (I could, say, read a book in an hour or two, but if I have the computer nearby I’d very much be distracted by email and AIM and forums and the like, and it would take me WAAAAAY longer).

Oh, and don’t sweat the small stuff; thirty years from now none of these silly little trivialities will matter. A B in a class is fine, haha, the total effect that a B would have on my cumulative GPA when compared with an A is .01, lol, and no college will change it’s mind over such a small margin. Just… chill!

Not everyone was meant to be a CC-clusterfck. Accept that you’re not an uber activities type of person, and drop the time wasters

Deal with it and manage your time.

breathe!!

relax..get well..being sick and unhappy is no fun. you’re young, it’s not like you have to explode just right now..you’ll have time for that later.

I know what you’re experiencing and I feel the same!
This past week has been torture…with work, school newspaper, community service, and homework. I failed my first physics test due to lack of study time and am struggling to accomplish everything within my time constraints.

Keep in mind that we’re human; we can’t do the impossible.

okay…you just have to prioritize and make sure you get everything done. Personally, I’ve had to sacrifice my usual 7.5-8 hour sleep to get 5.5-6 hours sleep…it’s annoying but necessary. I need it to keep up with EC’s, college apps, essays, scholarships, etc.

And if you think junior year is bad, really…senior year w/apps is a LOT worse. You have all the same issues as junior year but have to run around looking at all these different requirement and you get NO SLACK! I have 3 tests on monday, which also happens to be the ED/EA/rolling deadline at my school (a month early= killer, i know) AND I have SATs on Saturday. Oh yeah, and i have two papers for economics due in the next few weeks. And a job that is increasing from 6 hours to 10 hours a week!

You can deal, too. Just visualize when you’ll be DONE and can take a break. This may never happen, but just knowing that you “only have to get to Thursday” really helps. Even if Thursday ends up sucking, you still got through Sat-Wed.

listen to…
the titanic theme song (preferably the version by Andre Rieu)

Most of these answers suck. I hate it when people say it’s impossible! One way if you REALLY want to try to handle everything better is make a schedule. You can write it down or just plan it out in your head, whatever. Seriously like every hour of the day plan our your day(s) and give yourself enough time for sleep, homework, ecs, work, fun, etc. And stick to it! Try it it might work :)

Either your time management is very poor and/or you have taken on too much. I don’t think I need to explain what you should do in either scenario.

I agree with what AnonPearson said about knowing that you only have to make it until Thursday, or whenever. It helps a lot knowing that after Saturday, I’ll be able to sleep as long as I want.

How I got through junior year was with an arsenal of naps and exercise. Every day after school (or when I got home), I would take a 20 minute nap. A study showed that a nap any longer will result in you going into deep sleep, and you’ll wake up feeling possibly even more tired than you were. I also tried to exercise 3/5 weekdays, if not all of them. On Friday and Saturday, I would REALLY push myself to exercise, and on Sunday I would give it a rest.

Also, I gave myself Friday night off and sometimes worked on Saturday mornings. Saturday afternoons I would also sometimes reserve for free time/getting together with friends. I would save my brain and prepare it for Sunday, when I would spend much of the afternoon and evening doing homework and studying.

The busier you are, the more you can’t afford not to sleep well, keep a life, and exercise.

Oh, and another tip: to stay out of sickness, drink a vitamin-enhanced bottle of whatever liquid a day. My simple formula is to switch off with Vitamin Water and Arizona Green Tea. This combo has helped me battle sickness despite 3 hour nights of sleep, insane amounts of AP hw, and sports.

A secret I have found is to spend anywhere from half an hour to an hour to plan out your week. This small period of time can save LOTS of stress because you plan out goals, figure out tasks, track progress, etc. The key is to plan by week, not day.

PM me if you want more tips- this is just the summary of how I survived junior year (and am surviving senior year) taking the hardest APs at my school (3 last year, 5 this year), losing an hour of sleep for chamber orchestra, being most outstanding on my school’s swim team, and leading as DECA State President. :D

Personally I suggest just learning how to juggle. Its much easier and more fun :D

I’d still suggest listening to My Heart Will Go On…
but real advice, what’s been working (relatively) for me has been trying not to stress out much
I usually leave some of my work to do in the morning and have learned when assignments are ok to bs and not
just learning the ropes of your own situation is the best idea…and accepting the fact that you may not get to do everything you want to do in that one moment…but there will be other moments :)

just know that it’ll all be over soon. time tends to pass faster (it seems) when ur constantly doing stuff

and no don’t listen to ‘my heart will go on’. that’s what i listened to when my grandfather died. cried myself to sleep for the first couple of nights. was NOT good.

if u could, go out for jogs on weekends. or just walk around the park. play w/ur pets if u have one. music is always a good one but just listen to the right songs

^sry to hear that…I like that song, which is the reason why I suggested it, but definitely the instrumental version.

lol i happen to love the song. i listen to it when i’m in a good mood. otherwise, i’d get depressed or somethin

I’m a junior as well and I’m just trying to be as productive as I can. Do my homework in class, and quickly finish after class at home. Quickly finish sports practice, quick shower, quick homework, quick dinner, quick studying, etc. Try to go to bed before midnight everyday.
