Learning to drive?

So, I had my first driving lesson today, and though it went well, I was very stressed out. I'd never driven a car before, and I was expecting to start in a nice empty parking lot or maybe a quiet residential street, but instead I found myself driving 45 on a very busy street in the middle of the lunch crowd. In a word, terrifying. I'm glad I have a week until my next lesson to practice, but we're going on the freeway next time, so that'll be interesting. Anyways, I'm done with my story. Anyone else have any driving stories/advice that they'd like to share?

Yeah, it’s usually best to start in an empty parking lot or something. That’s the way I did it when my dad taught me how to drive.

Freeway driving is actually very easy, but be prepared. Merging on a busy freeway can be tricky.

I’d drive in an empty parking lot or a quiet residential area. When I first started driving, I was terrified to go over 15 MPH. Slowly I went up to 25, and then I started driving in 45-50 MPH zones. You have to work your way up or it can be dangerous.

I have been driving for 2.5 years and I’ve skillfully managed to avoid highway driving, lol.

Sounds like my driver instructor. Haha. But don’t sweat it, the more you practice, the better you’ll get! I’ve been driving for nearly 2 1/2 years. And I find it pretty fun :)

Yeah, practice practice practice!

I’ve also been driving for around 2 - 2 1/2 years. Then I learned how to drive a stick shift…that was interesting.
