Learning to Write

I recently "graduated" from my college-prep tutorial, and I am currently designing my own AP English Language and Composition curriculum for the 2014-2015 school year. I would be interested to know how other home-schoolers on CC assess their own writing. Do you have a parent grade your papers? A tutor? Someone else entirely?

Also, do you know of any good resources (books, websites, etc.) that home-schoolers can use to improve their writing? I have already selected a few textbooks from the AP English Language course description, but I'm open to any suggestions!

Here are some possibilities:

Write Guide (online-$$) Has tutors; can be hit and miss

Write at Home (online-$$) Has tutors

IEW (online-$$) Actual writing class

Seize the Story (book)

There is also the Essay Workstation for the iPad and iPhone. A rather comprehensive step-by-step essay writing instructional ebook and writing platform in one app. They were voted a top-10 essay writing app and top-10 study-aid app a couple years ago.

I took several distance learning classes through online schools for homeschoolers-- there are several that offer College-Board approved AP classes.

@awcmtdb I wish there was such an “essay workstation” app for Android. Anyone have any suggestions?
