Least Impacted Engineering major?

Hey guys,

I’m applying to Davis, engineering, for one of the following majors:

Computer Science and Engineering

Computer Science

Computer Engineering

Electrical Engineering

Which of those majors that I’m interested in should I apply to, in order to maximize my chances? I understand once in the college of engineering I can transfer to another major :)

Please help!

if you are planning on changing your major anyway, you can apply to any other engineering major. i think biosystems engineering is one of the least impacted too

I’m asking which is least impacted to maximize my chances of getting in. Might do Electrical. Is that easier than Computer Engineering?

Actually, you don’t have to apply to the College of Engineering to be an engineering major. Davis is extremely lenient with letting people into Engineering even if they’re currently in another major. Case in point, I have several friends who are Chemistry majors and they changed their majors to Chemical Engineering with no hurdles along the way. All they needed was a 2.0 Engineering GPA (Calculus 1, 2, 3 + Physics A + Chemistry A). They simply filled out a form sometime in November, submitted it to the Dean of Engineering, and their majors were changed within a week.

I think if you’re trying to switch into Bioengineering, Mechanical Eng, or Aerospace Eng, you need a 2.8 in the aforementioned classes. Besides that, you’re guaranteed a spot in Engineering once you satisfy the requirements. There’s no competition to change majors to engineering (unlike some UCs like UCSB where space is limited). Good luck!

What is UCD’s overall reputation for Aerospace? Have a 6/1 SIR deadline…thanks!

“I think if you’re trying to switch into Bioengineering, Mechanical Eng, or Aerospace Eng”

I think you mean biomedical engineering, because biosystems engineering isn’t impacted. correct me if i’m wrong!

I’m Aerospace as a freshman, and I think there are less than 20 of us (everyone is Mechanical). Not sure what that means for you.
