major at columbia?

^if by that you mean one with least enrollment, then it’s a silly question, because I’m sure there were majors which eventually died or were merged because of a lack of interest, we wouldn’t know of the least popular major.

If you mean the one people btch about the most, there are tons, usually seas majors because they’re a lot of work and curve badly.

If you mean the one you’ll put on your app so you’ll get in, try applying to a different school, no loop holes or free lunches here.

smallest major is linguistics, I think. It had 2 or 3 people in the class of 08. Tiny departmnt, too

^surprisingly I think that’s already changed, I’m fairly certain I’ve met 3-4 linguistics majors, statistically there should be dozens since I only know a fraction of the student body, I think they’re expanding quickly. material science in seas consistently has like 3-5 majors per year. applied physics in seas has 7-10 a year i think.

Plus I really don’t think they give value to what high schoolers think they’re going to major in unless it significantly affects your profile (college courses, internships, focus on your essay, etc…) and even then…They know that most people end up switching their intended majors. It doesn’t even really become a huge factor until your sophomore/junior year.

Trust me you’ll think you want to be an X major until you take an intro class in it. You may also discover a new interest you never thought of while you’re here (and through the core).
