Leave of Absence and Transfer??

Hi,

I am currently a freshman at Villanova University in Pennsylvania and I’ve done reasonably well, but the problem is that I hate it so much there. The reason I hate it so much is because it’s 5 hours from home, I don’t fit in, and I’m not enjoying my time there; having friends or getting involved sadly don’t make my situation Nova any easier. I have wanted to transfer since the third week of school and am finally getting ready to apply to four schools.

My mom came down to visit me about a week ago and I kept breaking down crying about having to go back to class on Monday and her leaving. She also told me devastating news about my grandmother (who I am very close to) and the return of her cancer. Due to all of this, and my unusual loss of academic motivation, we decided to take a Leave of Absence from the University.

The logistics of the LOA work well, since I have 35 credits and am technically a sophomore, and I additionally had planned on taking transferable summer courses at my local university, but the problem I am finding is that I still need to send a Mid-Term Report. 4 of my teachers agreed to sign the papers, but 1 won’t sign them since I was withdrawn from the class and she cancelled her Office Hours. So I have a W in the class (technically all my classes) and I don’t know how to go about telling the colleges about this?

Have I ruined my chances of getting into any colleges?? Or will it be less worrisome because I have a high GPA and a lot of ECs?
