Leaving the military and applying

So my enlistment from the Air Force is finally up, and I'm trying to fill out some college applications... but I'm in need of some advice...PLEASE! It's been years since I've been in high school, so bare with me, but from what I can remember I think I had around a 3.5 gpa and only took AP English. I didn't participate in any sports or clubs though. My SATs were really low too... I think only 1000 (on the old 1600 scale... *i didnt even know they came out with new SATS!) Since being in the military...I've taken a lot of college classes and I earned a lot of credits..I'm only 3 classes shy of my associates degree (but I dont think all of the credits will transfer to all other universities) I think my gpa is around a 3.5. It might be a little lower...but I think for my personal essay I'm going to write a little bit about how it's hard to work full time, train for the job..both physically and mentally, and being ready to deploy at a moments notice (not trying to win over the pity plea, but moreover the strong-willed character). I've definitely excelled since I've been in the military and I volunteer for multiple activities and win various awards. Am I allowed to use awards that I've won in the military for applying to the university? what are my chances? Do you think I should just go to a community college and try to transfer that way? Also....how long are your SATs good for???? i think i took them more than 5 years ago...

Please be honest...you wont hurt my feelings =) THANKS FOR THE HELP!
