I have no clue what I want to major in either, maybe something going prelaw.

My stats are pretty low, I know, so I think I'm iffy. But both my parents have an undergrad degree from WashU and my dad has a JD from WashU as well, I've also visited the school multiple times over the past few years.

I will also be attending a precollege program this summer at NYU.

Suggestions, chances, comments?

Also, does anyone know how much legacies affect admissions at WashU?

Thanks!!

30+ hours of community service hours, this is insufficient, go for at least 500
your other EC are limited and dont demonstrate leadership
i think top 25 colleges may all be a reach for you, but considering you have WashU legacy (which is VERY HELPFUL, because it presumably indicate you have a strong interest for the school), you do have a chance at WashU

if you can, try having your parents call and talk to the school about you, im sure that will help you GREATLY

My 0 hours of community service tend to disagree with yuanxiaoyu. However, I did make it clear in my app that between training for track/xc year round and my ~20 hr/wk job that I simply did not have time for anything else. I do agree on the fact that you should get some sort of leadership in your EC’s, so maybe ask the coach/mentor about that. I’m pretty sure that they have a section on the app about legacies, but I’d also have your parents talk to the school on your behalf as well. Finally, if you know you want to go to WashU, definitely apply ED. It’s probably your best chance at getting in, and honestly you would be getting in to a school that would be beyond your reach otherwise.

EC’s are difficult to measure however your GPA and class rank could be better. Are you planning to take SAT or ACT again? Check the SAT 2 requirements also. Did you get your Gold Award? I’m sure you have more than 30 hours in community service just in GS’s so I think you are underestimating yourself there. I also do not know how much weight a legacy adds at WUSTL. At some schools it means allot. Good luck current stats are a little low
