Legacy advantage at ND

So what is the legacy advantage for admissions at ND? Son is gtetting ready to apply for EA. I read it is about 40% for legacies? Any guidance on ACT scores, grades, etc...?

But they better get the football team to beat Purdue this weekend or all applications are off! (just joking)

although legacy does carry more weight at notre dame than at other peer institutions, it will not compensate for poor grades/test scores/essays. that being said ND is a little more lenient when it comes to legacy admits that's for sure.

Legacy applicants are self-selecting: Smart parents usually produce smart kids, and most kids who are interested in Notre Dame because their parents went there are also realistic about their own chances, being raised with the idea in the back of the head. So, while legacies do have a bit of an advantage, it's really not as ridiculous as some people say. It'll split the difference between to average applicants, but it probably won't make a non-acceptance into an acceptance.

Notre Dame admits about 40% of its legacy applicants. So does Harvard, for that matter.
