For those of you who are planning on attending or considering CMU, I would suggest you view the u tube video of Randy Pausch's commencement speech. He was the epitomy of what Carnegie Mellon University is about. He speaks of passion and personal lifetime priorities. The University is a little less for his passing but the ideals he embodied will always be part of the mission of the school. He will be missed. RIP Randy.

The Class of 2012 all received a copy of Prof Pausch's The Last Lecture in their orientation packet this yr. On the last day of Orientation, they will have a chance to discuss the book with co-authur Jefferey Zaslow. How terrific is that?! And, I do hope they put up brick walls on either side of the Randy Pausch Memorial Footbridge...

Son, BS- ME/HCI '06, did not have R Pausch as an instructor, he did have an amazing time there. On many late friday evenings he was in that lecture room viewing the collaborative work of others. We sincerely hope that the skills that he learned at CMU reinforces the concepts of reaching further, offering possible solutions, collaboration, daVinci Affect, and just working towards the goals.

There are many fine students and instructors at CMU that taken together, will take people far. S had a MacArthur Fellowship winner as his advisor, mentor, and supervisor.
