CMU lucky to have professors like Randy Pausch

For those students and parents who don't know why CMU is so highly ranked, take a look at this wonderful professor (and his encouraging, yet also sad, story)

For those who would like to see the entire lecture--you have to go to youtube and look at videos 1 through 10 on this. I especiallythink lecture #4 is absolutely phenomenal for anyone considering attending CMU.

Here is that one:

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J18CnoQbizA%5B/url%5D">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J18CnoQbizA</a></p>

It's best to watch them all in order if you have the time, though. It takes about 1 hour in total.

Oh my, so touching.

I watched the entire thing. What an inspiring man! What a great philosophy on life! What a fantastic graduate course!

Its terrible that such a brilliant, lively man should have to die like this, but he seems pleased with his life and completely fulfilled. All we can hope is to die in such good spirits as he is.

If CMU has professors like Randy Pausch, I know it must be a wonderful place to go to school.

There's also a link on the CMU website where you can watch the whole lecture straight through. Also there've been other threads on CC about this wonderful man.

He was on Oprah this past Monday, looking thinner and the voice weaker. What an inspiration. It takes a lot to make me shed a tear but this did; as a parent, I can't imagine the private agony knowing he's leaving 3 kids age 5 and under.

I think everyone who's remotely associated with CMU has already seen the lecture. It should be required for all incoming freshman to watch it...
