<p>The UVa Alumni Association is offering a $5,000 per year 4 year scholarship to an incoming 1st year student who has a parent, step parent or guardian who is a grad of UVa. The application is on their website. It is due in a few days, and they promise a decision before May 1.</p>

<p>Based upon the application, I interpret the scholarship to be mainly aimed towards a family with UNIQUE circumstances that were not considered by UVa's standard financial aid formula, but which may prevent the student from attending UVa. </p>

<p>They consider the FAFSA plus other information that is submitted.</p>

<p>Merit and activities are also considered, and some essays are required. </p>

<p>The application is filed out as a word file and then must be submitted online (which makes it easier to meet the deadline).</p>

<p>Charlieschm, do you know about when they might announce the recipient? I couldn’t find it listed on the website. I am hoping to attend UVA and run for the XC/Track team (I’ve been offered a spot), and this scholarship would make it work for me to attend.</p>

<p>The website said they would announce it in time for the May 1st decision deadline. I don’t remember seeing a date.</p>
