Legacy?

<p>I found out that one of my older cousins went to Stanford. Does this count as legacy? :O</p>

<p>Generally, no. It has to be a direct line (grandparent, parent). Cousins don't usually count.</p>

<p>siblings do count. Also if your cousing has done notable things like donate a lot of money or guest lecture or something it could very well help.</p>

<p>When I visited Stanford in the Spring, the question about "legacies" was asked and they basically said, "we are not admitting Grandpa or Dad and as much as we appreciate them, we are looking at YOU"!! They basically said that the competition was so tough with all of the exemplary applications that they receive, that unless you "make the grade", it doesn't matter whether you are a legacy or not. I don't know about other schools.</p>
