Legal Studies Major at Berkeley

You don't need to know much to know that psychology was once a branch of philosophy.

Good job! You are now acquainted with the past tense! Too bad you will be insulting a great many philosophers if you still considered psychology a part of serious academic philosophy.

And "government" is simply not a humanity, nor is political science; go find one source that classifies them as such

Try Georgetown University.

urther, YOU must not hold the virtues of the discipline if you are willing to put it on equal ground with a discipline like political science.

I am sorry community college has not taught you this, but such arrogance is not tolerated in philosophy departments. The notions of superiority and inferiority depend for their application on their framework, and judgments rendered on a philosophical framework do not apply to other linguistic frameworks. Try reading some Carnap.

Your post was ironic in its ability to display amazing arrogance; we must turn to nspeds as the absolute authority of not just philosophy, but the "traditional humanities"!

Your marginal support of logic in previous threads only attests to your ineptidude. I look forward to reading more evidence of your ostensible abilities.

When was that EVER SUGGESTED?

Try Georgetown University.

I've been searching the Georgetown website for distinctions between social sciences and humanities. Here's what I found:

"Humanities and Writing

"An introduction to a humanities discipline other than Philosophy, Theology, and History, taught in English, with a writing component. Courses satisfying this requirement are offered by the departments of Art, Music and Theater, Classics, English, the modern languages, and interdisciplinary programs such as African American Studies, Catholic Studies, Comparative Literature, Medieval Studies, and Women's and Gender Studies. A list of courses satisfying this requirement will appear each each semester in the Registrar's Schedule of Classes.

"Social Science

"All students except those majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Physics (B.S.), satisfy their Social Science requirement by taking two courses in one of the following fields: Anthropology, Government, Economics, Linguistices, Psychology, or Sociology."

Government is considered a social science.

I think it's funny that Georgetown takes philosophy so seriously that it gets its own GE category, rather than being placed in the humanities...just as my opinion was indicating.

When did I make claims of personal abilities?

I stand corrected.

Oh well, I thought Georgetown construed everything in the college as humanities.

nspeds makes me glad i didn't choose to major in philosophy. a bunch of know-it-alls insulting my logic and telling me to read obscure books. who needs it.

No one needed that comment, but you do not see me not complaining.

Sounds like typical modern philosophy bunkum. It should be noted that within philosophy there is much debate about the importance of philosophy, its applications, etc. I'm sure you're aware of this.

Err... logical positivism was hardly "modern philosophy."
